Fascinating landscapes and location at the foothills of Ruminahui Volcano

The Central Andes
The culprit of the great geographical marvel that is Ecuador: the massive Andes Mountains. At their highest, Ecuador’s volcanoes reach daunting elevations of over 19.000 feet above sea level producing a unique spectacle of magical proportions: perpetual snow along the Equator. Cotopaxi Volcano is one of eight snow-capped volcanoes in Ecuador, glacier-dominated realms that mirror our planet’s polar ecosystems.
As we drop in elevation, we reach the tundra-like “páramo“, a windswept, low-vegetation barren world reminiscent of the sub-Artic climates. It’s striking to think that such visions can be found in the tropics, let alone the Equator. These imposing landscapes pitted against the undulated contours of the hilly terrain are home to the mighty Andean Condor, the largest flying bird on our planet.
